Friends of Elmfield are a new community group, who are based in St Peter’s. We run litter picks, plant swaps, work parties, fun activities, and community gardening sessions in Elmfield Park, the Tewkesbury Road Rest Garden, and surrounding neighbourhood.
Working with the St Peter’s and the Moors Big Local, Cheltenham Borough Council, the Rotary Club and Gardners Lane Primary School, we have planted saplings and crocuses in Elmfield Park. We are fundraising to put more paths in the park, to encourage cycling and walking among local residents, and make it more accessible.
We also take donations of unsold plants from our local Tesco, and nurse them back to health, to be planted in the Rest Garden or added to plant swaps.
The Rest Garden is open whenever someone is available to run a session, so we are always on the lookout for more groups or individuals to do this.
The lovely Jo of Haven4Wildlife runs weekday sessions in the garden during the growing season, and there are resident run weekend sessions all year round.
