The Stories We Live By – Ecolinguistics

face and tree

The language we use, especially how we refer to the natural environment (plants, animals, nature, weather) can influence our behaviour and how we see ourselves in relation to nature.

CheltenhamZero are excited to be working with Arran Stibbe, Professor of Ecological Linguistics at the University of Gloucestershire. He will be giving a talk to CheltenhamZero members later this year (2023) demonstrating how language and accepted narratives can either encourage or discourage society to care about people and ecosystems that life depends on.
